Hays Recruitment are pleased to partner with a well-established remote Council providing essential services to a remote community in regional Far North Queensland. Due to an increase in work load, they are currently seeking an experienced Electrician to join their busy construction and maintenance team. This is a residential role, requiring relocation to the council with subsidised accommodation and relocation assistance provided.

Your new role

Providing support to the construction and maintenance team, you will be responsible for responding to maintenance and repair call-outs for Council assets and buildings under the direction of the housing supervisor. You will be involved in residential maintenance, work alongside government housing departments and assist in training and mentoring local apprentices. You will work Monday – Friday, with weekend work available at the approval of your supervisor. This is a fixed term 12-month contract with three-year terms also on offer.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to be a trade qualified Electrician. You will need to hold a current QLD Electrical licence or be willing to obtain one (if from out of state), a construction white card, manual Driver’s Licence and have experience in domestic or commercial construction, maintenance, and repairs. You will ideally have prior experience working in a remote Indigenous community and be culturally aware. You will be working in a dry community with alcohol restrictions, and this must be respected. Random drug and alcohol testing will be conducted.

SCADA and CCTV experience is highly desirable as well as QTP, QBP and Certificate II or III in AC installations.
